Optic/Suppressor Ready Sight Guide – TAG Precision (Preview)

Built for What's Next

Your pistol doesn't have to stay the way it is today.

Many shooters begin with traditional iron sights, later add a slide-mounted red dot, and eventually build a suppressed pistol. TAG Precision Optic/Suppressor Ready sights are engineered to adapt with your firearm, eliminating the need to replace your sights as your setup evolves.

One sight height. Long-term versatility.

One Sight. Two Purposes.

TAG Precision Optic/Suppressor Ready sights are designed to provide two key advantages:

  • An approximate lower 1/3 co-witness with many of today's most popular slide-mounted red dot optics.
  • Improved sight visibility when shooting with many common centerfire pistol suppressors.

Rather than offering separate "optic height" and "suppressor height" options, TAG Precision combines both capabilities into one versatile sight configuration.

Is Optic/Suppressor Ready Right for Me?

Choose Optic/Suppressor Ready if you:

  • Run a slide-mounted red dot optic.
  • Shoot with a threaded barrel and suppressor.
  • Plan to add an optic in the future.
  • Want a versatile sight set that supports future upgrades.

If your pistol will remain a traditional iron-sight setup with no plans for an optic or suppressor, our Tactical sights offer a lower-profile alternative that's ideal for everyday concealed carry.

Red Dot Compatibility

TAG Precision Optic/Suppressor Ready sights are engineered around the mounting height of many of today's most popular open-emitter pistol optics and are designed to provide an approximate lower 1/3 co-witness on compatible firearms.

Common compatible optics include:

  • Trijicon RMR
  • Trijicon SRO
  • Holosun 407C Series
  • Holosun 507C Series
  • Holosun 508T
  • Holosun 507Comp
  • Other optics with similar mounting dimensions

A Note About Optic Height

Not all pistol optics share the same optical centerline.

Some optics have a taller housing or require adapter plates that increase mounting height above the slide. As a result, the final co-witness relationship can vary depending on the optic, mounting system, and firearm.

Optics with a taller optical centerline, including the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, Aimpoint ACRO, Steiner MPS, Vortex Venom, and similar designs, may produce a different co-witness or require taller sights for the same sight picture.

Suppressor Compatibility

Most centerfire pistol suppressors have an outside diameter ranging between 1.25" and 1.38". TAG Precision Optic/Suppressor Ready sights are designed around these common suppressor dimensions to provide improved sight visibility on many popular handgun and suppressor combinations.

TAG Precision suppressor-height sights provide a clear line of sight over a mounted pistol suppressor

Because every firearm is different, your exact sight picture depends on:

  • Firearm model
  • Suppressor diameter
  • Barrel and slide geometry
  • Optic and mounting configuration

Some setups will provide a full sight picture above the suppressor, while others may show only the upper portion of the suppressor in the sight picture. Both are normal and fully functional.

Can I Use These Sights Without an Optic or Suppressor?

Absolutely.

TAG Precision Optic/Suppressor Ready sights function perfectly as traditional iron sights even when no optic or suppressor is installed. However, because they sit taller than our Tactical sights, they may not be the preferred choice for every application.

For dedicated concealed carry pistols that will not use a red dot or suppressor, we generally recommend our Tactical sights for their lower profile and reduced likelihood of snagging during the draw.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will these sights co-witness with every red dot?

No. While TAG Precision Optic/Suppressor Ready sights are designed to provide an approximate lower 1/3 co-witness with many popular open-emitter optics, the final sight picture depends on the optic's mounting height, adapter plates (if used), and the firearm itself.

Will these sights clear every suppressor?

No single sight height can guarantee complete clearance on every suppressor and pistol combination. TAG Precision Optic/Suppressor Ready sights are engineered around the dimensions of the most common centerfire pistol suppressors. Depending on your setup, you may see a full sight picture above the suppressor or only the upper portion of the suppressor. Both configurations provide a usable sight picture.

Can I use these sights without a red dot?

Yes. Optic/Suppressor Ready sights perform just like traditional iron sights. Many shooters choose them today because they plan to add a red dot or suppressor later, making them a versatile long-term upgrade.
